Durabody ceramic tiles are made to last a lifetime while looking like the day they were installed. Under clear glazes iron containing clay bodies can show a very similar range of colors. A mid or high firing coarse grained clay body that can be anywhere between buff color to gray to dark brown because of varying levels of iron and other impurities. This category is only assigned to rim sherds because similar body sherds could have also derived from vessel forms exhibiting coiled or corrugated treatments along the rim.

A nice super smooth plastic body that fires a dark chocolate brown at cones 5 6. Through the ingredients list instructions and descriptions the recipes will also tell you whether the clay body will be groggy or smooth a solid even. Gives nice warmth to glazes giving that reduction look to them in oxidation. For best results fire slow.

Grog can be added to created larger pieces. Iron s natural presence in most clay bodies produces clay colors ranging from light gray to deepest brown. Pastes tend to be tan brown to yellow red reflecting the consistent use of high iron clays. Not many potters would challenge iron s place as the most important of the ceramic colorants.

It is incredibly durable after firing with little to no absorption vitreous. Our tiles are fired at the same temperature and glazed just like porcelain.
