Every 2 years there is an opportunity for a new assistant apprentice to begin work in the studio. In the fall of 2021 the space will be available for a new apprentice to begin. I also have a ball mill clay mixer and pugger as well. The apprentice helps me run my gallery dig and process clays mix glazes maintain my website and help fire my kilns.

This opportunity is most suited for beginner potters in their initial years of training wanting to develop their skills fur. The zakin apprenticeship program honors the spirit and practice of inquiry and learning of daily and wholly living a creative life working and living within a community of makers. Our goal is to give apprentices the time to develop their work and then the means to go out on their own with the tools in studio practice pottery design. The studio has two electric kilns a salt kiln and an anagama wood kiln. The program is designed to respond to the changing needs of emerging makers with high level training and mentorship in ceramic materials history and theory and professional practice.
